The National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners is the only national organisation which campaigns for the rights of allotment holders across the UK; protecting, preserving and promoting allotments for all. It is a not-for-profit organisation that provides free legal advice, a bespoke benefits package and the services of a regional representative to its members. We’ll have hands on demonstrations so you can test how green your fingers really are, and a fabulous competition open to all our visitors. Fill out a simple survey and you will be entered into a free prize draw to win a gardening box of delights, complete with the five gardening books you can’t do without, a myriad of vegetable seeds, quality gardening gloves, a set of hand tools manufactured in the UK, a battery operated DAB radio for outdoor listening, plus a year’s free membership to the NSALG – all together worth over £200.
Mike Thurlow
Mike has been gardening and growing since he was knee high to grasshopper. A Welshman with soil in his blood, Mike has worked in most areas of horticulture during his career and is currently Head Gardener of the Organic Kitchen Garden at Audley End House near Saffron Walden. Mike is passionate about allotments and believes you can get fruit and vegetables to grow just about anywhere, so long as you treat the soil well and put in a bit of hard work. He has held allotments in his own right, been a site secretary and is a Life member of the NSALG, writing regularly for the organisation's magazine. Happy to share his wisdom whenever possible, Mike will be available to chat to throughout the Show from the NSALG stand.
