Sustainable Opportunities Ltd (SO) is a University spin out company identifying and developing sustainable products and was recently the winner of Luton’s Best Innovator/Innovation award.
SO is working in four horticultural areas:
1. SO-GRO - GutterGrow kits for constructing vertical allotments.
2. SO-LAR - Development of a mobile solar power unit (with Cranfield University)
3. SO-SIP - Development of a low cost heat capture panel for horticultural water systems
4. SO-LED - LED grow lights for propagation and plant growth
SO Staff will be demonstrating the versatility of GutterGrow kits using a variety of containers (including gutters) to build vertical allotments.
SO has established a social enterprise arm – Centre for Sustainable Technologies Ltd (CoST). CoST works with Housing Associations, Local Authorities, Schools and community groups developing green initiatives. |CoST has recently been awarded RSA Catalyst funding to provide vertical allotments to residents in sheltered housing.
