Based in the Northamptonshire village of Crick, Access Garden Products have been manufacturing Cold Frames since 1958.
The unique ‘sliding door’ design provides easy access into the frame and also excellent ventilation – on early spring days the glass can be slid just an inch or two to give very gentle air movement; on hot summer days the glass can be slid fully open to maximise air flow – or the panels can even be completely removed.
The glazing is toughened safety glass, which is much stronger than traditional horticultural glass, but if broken will shatter safely into many small fragments. The framework is manufactured from architectural aluminium, which carries a 25 year guarantee.
Our Cold Frames are ideal for early cropping and for extending the season well into the Autumn. If a raised bed is added, cropping can be even earlier as the glass will warm the soil more quickly.
More recently Access have manufactured a range of mini greenhouses which are ideal for bringing on young plants. A flexible shelving system allows the height of the shelves to be adjusted for different plant types or removed for crops such as tomatoes.
