There are literally hundreds of meat products made from the pig, but smallholders who have considered the venture in the past have finally baulked at the prospect of seeing the animal they raised so lovingly come to a sticky end – and there are restrictions in place regarding the rearing and slaughtering of the animals.
For smallholders, pigs can be good to have around. They clear ground, fertilise it, eat vegetable waste... and produce lovely meat if you decide to choose that option.
