The Edible Garden Show 2012 to go ‘egg-stra’ mile for poultry lovers as cost-conscious consumers flock to keep chickens

Poultry will be even higher up the pecking order at The Edible Garden Show next year as Britain is witnessing the biggest revival in hen-keeping since the Second World War with 700,000 people flocking to keep chickens to beat the recession. The British Hen Welfare Trust has reported an 80 per cent growth in people keeping poultry over the past three years. In the meantime chicken coop suppliers have seen sales rocket as more people go that ‘egg-stra’ mile to becoming more self-sufficient.
